I have been working all this week with a couple of togs from the news of the screws, and we discussed some of the ‘idiot requests’ that we regularly get. One of the tips of the trade that I and my professional colleagues regularly use is, when shooting right on the limit, for example, on a 300mm, wide open at 3200ISO at 1/20th sec is to shoot in bursts of five or six frames. The reason for this, assuming that you are not using a tripod, or monopod, is that the process of triggering the shutter, no matter how smoothly you try to do it will induce some camera shake However, if you squeeze gently, with the motor on continuous the odds are the first frame, and maybe the second will have some camera shake, the third and fourth should be usable and the fifth and six will likely have some camera shake as you start to lift your finger from the release. This is obviously dependent on your ability, many amateurs I know won’t even manage to get hand held pics sharp at 1/125th sec, yet alone 1/20th. However the technique should still hold. |
